Brown County Girls Basketball Skills Clinic

For: Kindergarten through 8th grade

Cost: $10 (deadline to register: Friday, Oct. 23)

Mara Freshour, fomer Brown County High School player, Indiana All-Star, Florida State standout, and 2009 WNBA draft pick is hosting this one day clinic to benefit the Brown County Girls basketball program. Proceeds will help with the cost of playing basketball this 2009-2010 season.

Mara along with the help of Brown County Varsity Coach Mike Harmon, will focus on the “fundamentals” of playing basketball. Basic passing, dribbling, and shooting skills will be the focal point of the first half of the clinic. The second half will consist of specific basketball skills such as: defensive stance, offensive spacing, rebounding, screening and getting open, passing angles, ball handling, pivoting, and using a ball fake.

The goal of this clinic is to tech players the specific skills needed to be successful at playing basketball. Age levels will be strongly considered and teaching skills will be adjusted accordingly.
